North Indian food. Ready when you are. Taste of Bollywood's takeaway service brings Adelaide something worth picking up — slow-cooked curries, fresh-baked naan, and tandoori dishes made the exact same way as your dine-in meal. No shortcuts. No reheated shortcuts disguised as fresh. Just proper Indian food, hot and ready for collection from our Port Road kitchen in Hindmarsh. Whether it's a weeknight you didn't plan for or a weekend spread worth celebrating, ordering is easy — online or by phone.
There’s a version of takeaway that disappoints — the kind where the curry’s watered down, the naan’s gone rubbery, and the packaging smells of everything except spices. Then there’s what we do at Taste of Bollywood.
Every takeaway order from our Hindmarsh kitchen goes out the same way it would if you were sitting in our dining room. The butter chicken gets its full cook time. The biryanis are layered properly. The starters are fried to order, not sitting under a lamp somewhere.
We’ve been serving Adelaide’s Indian food community since around 2021, and one thing our regulars will tell you: the takeaway here doesn’t taste like a backup option. It tastes like the restaurant — because it is the restaurant, just in a box.
Our full menu is available for collection, including our signature North Indian curries, vegetarian dishes, tandoori platters, and freshly baked breads. Halal options available throughout. Something for everyone — and that’s not marketing, it’s just a well-stocked menu.
Call ahead or order online and pick up your full North Indian meal, hot and fresh, from our Hindmarsh location. No fuss, no compromise.
Browse the full menu, customise your meal, pay securely, and choose your pickup time — all from your phone or desktop in minutes.
Know exactly when you need dinner ready? Place your order in advance and lock in a collection time. Freshly prepared, timed to you.
Whether you’re craving our world-famous butter chicken, sizzling tandoori specialties, or exploring North Indian flavors for the first time, Taste of Bollywood is ready to welcome you. Located conveniently on Port Road in Hindmarsh, we serve diners from across Adelaide including North Adelaide, Port Adelaide, Bowden, West Adelaide, and the CBD.
A lot of restaurants run a stripped-down takeaway menu — fewer options, simpler prep, less effort. We don’t do that. When you order takeaway from Taste of Bollywood, you’ve got access to our full North Indian menu: the same curries, the same entrees, the same tandoori dishes, the same breads.
That includes the dishes people actually travel for. Our Soya Champ — which has built its own quiet reputation in Adelaide — is available for takeaway. So is the Butter Chicken that’s been called the best in the city by more than a few regulars. The Chicken Tikka Masala, the Lamb Biryani, the Garlic Naan, the Fish Pakoda — all of it.
What we do adjust is the packaging. Dishes that travel well go in containers that hold heat. Wet curries are separated from dry items. Bread goes in its own bag so it doesn’t steam itself into a heap. It sounds like detail, but it’s the detail that means your meal is actually good by the time you get it home — not just technically warm.
Whether you’re ordering for two or feeding a table of eight, the full menu is there. Spice levels are customisable on request, so whether you’re introducing someone to Indian food for the first time or you want it hot enough to remember tomorrow, we can accommodate that.
The platform is straightforward — which is how it should be when you’re hungry.
Head to our online ordering system, browse the full menu at your own pace, and build your order the way you want it. You can customise dishes, add notes for the kitchen (spice level, dietary preferences, that kind of thing), and pay securely before you confirm. Once the order goes through, you’ll get a confirmation and a pickup time.
No phone call required. No “hold please.” No guessing whether your order got written down properly. The kitchen receives it directly, which means fewer mistakes and more consistency — something that matters when you’re ordering a mixed spread for a family and everyone wants something different.
That said, if you’d rather just call — the number’s there. Some people prefer to talk through an order, especially if it’s a large one or they’ve got specific requests. Our team at 08 7226 6822 can take care of it.
The online platform also makes reordering easy. If you had the Butter Chicken and the Garlic Naan last week and you want exactly the same thing again — a reasonable choice, honestly — it takes about ninety seconds.
Yes — and it’s one of the more underused features of our ordering platform.
Scheduled pickup means you place your order before you leave the office, before you pick up the kids, before you finish whatever’s keeping you busy — and your meal is ready precisely when you walk through the door. No waiting. No arriving at 6:45 and standing around until 7:10. Just food, timed to you.
This works particularly well for Friday nights, weekends, and any time you’ve got a group order to coordinate. Large family dinner? Place it two hours ahead, schedule a 7pm collection, and it’s there when you need it. Doesn’t get more efficient than that.
One thing worth knowing: we don’t pre-make orders and hold them. When your scheduled time comes around, that’s when the dishes go out. So what you’re collecting is genuinely fresh — not something that’s been sitting since you placed the order.
Honestly? Most of them travel well — but some are better suited to the format than others.
The Butter Chicken is probably the most forgiving. It’s already a sauce-heavy dish, so a bit of extra time in the container doesn’t hurt it at all. Same with the Dal Makhani and the Lamb Rogan Josh — slow-cooked dishes that are meant to sit in their own flavour. They actually deepen a little by the time you get home.
The Biryani — Chicken or Lamb — is another strong pick. We layer it properly rather than mixing everything together, which means the rice doesn’t turn to mush during transport. It holds its texture better than most.
Tandoori starters are worth ordering if you’re eating soon after collection — the char from the tandoor doesn’t linger indefinitely, so the sooner you eat those, the better.
For first-timers, a classic combination: Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan, and a Vegetable Samosa to start. For regulars after something more adventurous, the Soya Champ is worth ordering — it’s become something of a cult dish here, and you won’t find it done quite the same way anywhere else in Adelaide.

The Butter Chicken consistently tops the list, but our Soya Champ has developed a loyal following of its own. First-timers often go for the Butter Chicken or Chicken Tikka Masala; regulars tend to branch into more distinctive North Indian dishes.
